play, play, play

We've been having fun at home doing a lot of play, play, play with Miss Hannah. I think she's been working on our initiation into parenthood as well. We've seen puke twice when she's eaten too much and got upset or ate a lot and then stuck too big of a piece of rice cracker into her mouth. Our foam play mats have already needed hosed off in the bathtub, and we haven't even been home a week. Ew.

Here's a little video I made so you can hear her baby talk and see her crawl. Apparently the box that the exersauser came in is as much fun as the exersauser itself. Go figure. And please excuse the dog food on the floor. Thankfully she hasn't found the dog dish... yet. She's found every other little bit of everything on the floor that the vacuum didn't.

Here's some photos from our play during the last two days. I'm trying to get her on the move crawling and sitting up as much as possible. The first two photos are my favorites, and then there's a slideshow for the rest of the set.

She's been a little snotty and we're doing the saline and bulb syringe thing several times a day. I had no idea that bulb syringes doubled as medieval infant torture devices until now. Our house humidifier is working really hard, and we have a humidifier just for her room on order. Kevin has a very specific brand he wants after researching humidifiers, and lucky for me... er... lucky for Hannah... this manufacturer has one that looks like Hello Kitty. Yippie!

Hannah slept through the night for the first time Wednesday night. It's 3:52am Friday morning now and I'm awake for awhile after a diaper change and sucking the snot out of her because she couldn't breathe through her nose to suck on her pacifier. I hold her head and hands secure while Kevin does the torture... er... snot sucking. We gave the little angel some Miralax this morning in a bottle and now we've been graced with stinky tofu in the diaper on her own terms. Man, have I turned into a mom, or what? This post was supposed to be all about play, but got hijacked by snot and poop. Sorry.

  1. She is so cute!! Gotta love Miralax. We still use it once in a while. I swear all babies come home from Taiwan and catch a cold! All that I know have (of course, they've all come from tropical Taiwan to cold Indiana weather too!!)

She is such a cutie and yes, Sarah, you are officially a MOM!! It's the best, isn't it????

  2. hee-hee! I am so happy you are a mommy in all ways! Don't worry, you will become immune to the stink, gross, stuff, but never the torture nose thingy. I still hate doing that to E! Great pics, great video, and Yes, the box is ALWAYS more fun!!!

Have a great weekend to the new FAMILY!!!

  3. Snot, poop, and ... don't forget... vomit (at the top of the post!).

But, that's okay- all the cute makes up for it!

  4. Yep, Mommas can't be skittish on poop, puke and snot can they? Looks like you have it under control! Funny post. She is so cute!

  6. Once she starts walking you can kind of get her in a head-lock between your legs and aspirate. Reed hates it and always has. I don't know why. They have to feel better when the snot is out of their noses!

  7. Yep, you've crossed over Sarah. Let's get real. All of us, on a daily basis are wiping butts, wiping noses, catching projectile vomit, and wondering why we're changing the linen for the 4th time in 7 days, (well, okay, I confess, I get DH to change the sheets after a night of leaking bottles and diapers!) Love the photos, and can't wait to see this new HK humidifier! BTW, we're still using Miralax with Gracyn. Just a teeny bit once a day. Seems to do the trick! That stuff is worth every penny!

    Love the video.

  9. It sounds like you've hit the ground running with goop coming out of every part of your little girl. I'll bet your laundry machine is also working overtime.

So cute to see Hannah Claire in action and to hear her voice. What a sweet baby voice she has!

William received that same Little People airplane for Christmas. Now tell me: does it come with 3 people or 4? I wasn't there when it was first ripped out of its box and it's driving me nuts to constantly see one empty seat in the plane. I keep thinking it should be filled to capacity.

  10. Judy, I think the Little People airplane just came with three people. Ours has an empty seat too, except when the mommy or the baby from the Little People purple minivan hops on board as well.
