Got Poop?

We went on a midnight grocery store run tonight as the cupboards and fridge were getting pretty bare. I bought the meds a couple of weeks ago, but this is first container of baby food I've ever purchased for my baby. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, kinda like when I got teary eyed when I bought my first package of diapers and wipes. When she's two and a half and I'm frustrated with potty training and trying to keep princess panties dry, I'm sure that there won't be anything warm and fuzzy about buying diapers anymore.

Had to share this, as it might be one of my funniest blog comments ever. This comment is from Rebecca after reading about Kevin and I using baby signs wtih each other at Barnes & Noble: I was laughing picturing you & Kev signing to each other in Barnes & Noble. :) I wonder if any babies saw you and went, "HEY, those peeps know my language!!! They have COOKIES?? And HOW DO THEY KNOW I need a diaper change!!!"

Baby Mum-Mum rice crackers have been spotted at the local Wal-Mart. Sweet!

  1. Hanna Claire is moving up in the world...getting actual jars of baby food now! (Be careful...some of those flavors look a little icky!) (0:

  2. Miralax worked BEST for us!!! Also, something our Pediatrician told us is better than Prunes, which my girls wouldn't eat: Pears and Pear juice. Just a tid bit of info from a mommy with two little ones who had a hard time pooping!!!

  3. That picture & caption made me laugh. :)

Are you serious?? Baby Mum-Mums at WAL-MART??

Since you are the resident Adoption Geek here in blogland (and I mean that in very complimentary terms), I have a question for you. Do kids in Taiwan/China eat those rice crackers past baby-stage into toddlerhood? Everyone talks about them and I feel very clueless.

I would also like to know if Stinky Tofu is found in China. If not, I might just have to fly over to Taiwan really quick and meet you at the Hello Kitty Cafe, and we can go get some. :)

  4. P.S. FYI I am planning on a little adventure while in Beijing - at the STREET MARKET. Do not be surprised if you see a picture of me munching a fried scorpion!!! (OK maybe just calamari).

  5. Dear non-geeky HTML guru sexy soon to be mother of 5 (the artist formerly known as Rebecca),

About the rice crackers and toddlers... I dunno. I've never heard anything about toddlers and the rice crackers. Most of what I've read about the surfboard shaped rice crackers comes from SLC families... because they pass them around all day long to the babies there. Sorry, can't help you out there. BUT, maybe you want to buy a box and just see if it's something that looks familiar to Owen.

Now... on to the important stuff... the STINKY TOFU. I'll put on my adoption geek hat there. Stinky Tofu is supposedly the unofficial snack food of Taiwan, so that's why I'm crazy about wanting a piece of fried tofu on a stick once I reach the island of Formosa. It's supposed to be in China as well. Here's a link to read about stinky tofu:

If the stinky tofu is horrible, that's okay. A tiny pretty pink kitty cake at the Hello Kitty Cafe will make up for it, I'm sure.

  8. Ok.. two years of Asian constipation speaking here.. all the other "crap" (pun intended) doesn't work usually with the severe one..lol. We used it all. Ours can only go on Miralax.. so good for you for getting that one. In extreme cases the enema... UGH!!!! So good again. The others... if they are not severe.. MAY work.. so here is my thought.. KUDOS to you for listening to all the "been there done that" mommies and taking the Crappy hints.. LOL.. love ya girl.. good post!

  13. Sarah ~

Hannah is absolutely beautiful just like her mommy! As I've spent the last 12 years in preemie land, aka NICU, I think she looks perfectly healthy! I can't wait until she is home in her mommy's arms exactly where she belongs! Thank you for "stopping by" today ~ I have found a hobby I truly love and I'm meeting people that are true blessings! I think I'm gonna like this blogging thing:)

  16. You are too funny!
Yep, I'd say the "poop" thing is well covered! As for "stinky Tofu", we tried it and loved it! It was absolutely wonderful! It wasn't on a stick however... They do have a rice cracker of sorts for older ones, it tends to be a little harder and is coated lightly with a sweet and salty glaze. I have some in the cabinet, I will email you later with the name.
Baby girl is so lucky to have a mommy and daddy who are getting so much done to prepare for her arrival. Have fun signing...

  18. you are very smart to get prepared. you can't imagine how cranky it makes a baby to stopped up. We are hoping for our LOA by the first wk in Dec. and pick up before the Chinese New Yr. I can't stand to see him growing up without us.

    HannahClaire....breathtakingly beautiful.

  19. You got me!!! I was like, what in the world has this girl gotten herself into until I read the post!!! Oh.. I just found these diaper sacks that are baby-powder smell... just in case the maid isn't that into taking out the trash. I can not live a week in the same room as a diaper! ha ha Just an idea to add to the shopping list.

Gas relief... nice touch! ha ha
