Day 7 (Kenting Beach)

5:20am beach at Kenting

I woke up at sunrise. It had rained most of the night. We got dressed and walked to breakfast at beach house number one and stopped to check out the beach along the way.  It was cloudy and a little windy.  Hope the sun comes out!  There weren't many people at the beach.

The fresh orange juice was wonderful.  Better than any orange juice I've ever had.

We purchased some snacks at the 7-eleven along the way.
Dried minnows and almonds.
I can't handle eating something with eyes, but find amusement in watching Hannah eat them.

Yay! Hannah tried them. Good girl!

We got on our sunscreens and suits and headed back to the beach.  You can rent an umbrella and several plastic chairs for the whole day.  The sun is so strong, you'll need it.  I can't remember how much it costs, but it was less than $10 US and certainly worth it.  The people renting umbrella space used a gesture that was like drawing an umbrella shape above their heads to ask if you wanted an umbrella.  While we walked down the beach a bit two dogs took up space under our umbrella and I had to shoo them out.  They were nice dogs, but they need to rent their own umbrella space if they want some shade on the beach.  The sand didn't have any shells that we could find.  There were large rocks, but I wouldn't describe the sand as rocky.

Love my little Pingtung beach baby girl.

We cleaned up from the beach and called the owner of our beach house for help in calling a taxi to take us out to dinner. She had her husband drive us for the same rate a taxi would charge. We googled restaurants in Kenting and decided on Warung Didi.  I can't find it now, but Kevin had found their website with an online menu and photos of their offerings that looked really good.

This photo is bad and taken with my phone in low light, but it just reminds me of how fun and talkative Hannah was that night about our trip and what we were doing. She's growing up so fast.  I had a seafood curry pictured first.  The second photo is a side of vegetables.  The third photo is Kevin's dish that was a little spicy, but I can't remember what it was.  All good good good!  Hannah ate a lot of sticky rice and shrimp.  We shared several different non-alcoholic drinks, including fresh Taiwanese pineapple juice.  There was inside and outside seating.  We chose to eat inside as it was lightly raining.  The atmosphere was amazing, a kind of place with great soft music and neat lights outside that make you want to hang out and have drinks and laugh with friends for hours outside.

We walked down the main drag.
It was a little like a night market on the sides of the road with food, shopping, and games.

I bought a green tea ice cream. Not so good.
You're not missing anything if you haven't tried it.
We hailed a taxi to take us back to the beach house for the night.
And it rained, and rained, and rained all night.
