Hannah Claire photo extravaganza

I know... I know... I've been slow to post photos. Been busy figuring out how to change a diaper with Miss Squirmy, how to give a baby a bath (she loved playing in the ducky tub and splashing with some stacking cups), how to make a bottle REALLY fast when she's screaming a the top of her lungs today, and freaking out thinking I broke her when she has the hiccups from crying.

I learned a valuable lesson today. When air drying your baby's bottom after a really wet diaper, don't leave her on a hotel bed. I had Miss Hannah laying on her changing mat while sleeping and letting things air dry for a few minutes, when all of a sudden there was a huge fountain spurting into the air. It went all over her, down the changing mat, onto the nice swanky (our new favorite word from KB) Hyatt linens, and even soaked into the feather top mattress pad before Mommy could soak everything up with a towel. Mommy was all by herself and so upset, and Daddy returned shortly (thank, GOD!) helped the embarrassed Mommy call housekeeping to come save the day. I think the Hyatt will be ready for the dumb Hoosiers with a baby to go home in a few days.

Okay, okay, on to the photos!

Daddy's ready to tell Hannah all about Taipei.

"Look there, Hannah. Taipei 101 is the largest building in the world... for now."

Hannah thinks the lights look pretty cool out her window.

"And they brought me to this nice hotel with such fresh sheets. I'd love to pee on these. I think I'll save that trick for Mommy tomorrow when Daddy's gone doing laundry. That will really freak her out."

"Yes, the camera loves me."

"Do you guys happen to have any rice crackers around here?"

2008-12-29_06-48-09_Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XSi
"What? The baby nursery sent some Hello Kitty rice crackers with you? Sweet! Let's break them out."

  5. Hannah looks like such a happy and confident baby! Enjoy the rest of your Babymoon, its such a precious time, just the two of you and your baby, no cooking to do, no house to clean, no work to go to, just sweet memories to make.

  6. No way! Am I really the first to comment?! Such an honor!

OH MY STINKIN' GOODNESS SHE'S CUTE!!!!! I can't handle the cuteness!

Sarah, not only will you *not* break her.... you are her Mommy, and you will add so much wonderful richness to who she. Every Mom has got to have a pee story. Our middle child, Dean, is nicknamed "Squirt" for a reason. ;-)

Keep the pictures rolling... no one can get enough HC!

  7. Words can't describe how cute and expressive she is. Looks like she's keeping you on your toes w/that peeing episode. I know there's no genetic link, but boy, she really does resemble her new parents. It's uncanny!

  8. Seriously- She could not get any cuter!!!! What a happy baby! Congratulations to you both on having Hannah Claire in your arms. Thank you for so generously sharing your journey.

  9. Haha on peeing on the sheets!!!! Way to go HC! :) She's so dang cute Sarah, how can you stand it??

Keep the cuteness coming... it gives me an excuse to take a break from painting the bedroom. Gotta check in on that punkin. :)

  10. Oh I love that bow! She is so precious. I think Aiden wants to meet her someday soon! I had to laugh about calling housekeeping. We had to do it twice...both times for major vomit. The Vietnamese probably wondered what this Hoosier was doing wrong to make her son throw up so much- twice.

  11. LOVE the pics! She is just so perfectly precious! And you're stories of peeing and breaking her will make yourself laugh in no time. You won't even remember a time you weren't a pro!

So happy for you! Seeing the pics brings me back a few months... everyone should have that experience of picking up the child meant for them. It's indescribable, isn't it?

  12. SOOOO CUTE!!!!! Look at her expressions!! WOW! In awe here! Okay, how come you didn't get pee'd on? I always get peed on... the poo gets saved for Dad... no joke, even when I'm changing them, they can still somehow get Dad! ha ha Whomever said that boys are the only ones who are able to shoot was wrong!

Anyways, I'm so glad she's in your arms and all the adventures begin! Let the Baby Olympics Begin!

p.s. We've seen people punch holes through 50 inch plasmas here... a little pee is the least of hotel's troubles. ;0)

  13. There's really nothing like the first time your child pee-pees all over you and everything else ;) Sounds like you are getting settled into motherhood! I love all of the photos. Sorry your AIT appointment was so stressful. . . I'm glad you got all of that worked out!

  15. Love the pictures! Keep them coming! It is not like you have a new beautiful daughter to take up your time now is it? I am jealous of the bows and headbands...Maya still does not tolerate them well!
You crack me up with your stories...while we were in Taipei at the handicraft market the couple we were with had to change a blow out in a phone booth and that was funny! I think miss Ting Yu had saved up a months worth of "stinky Tofu" and it was everywhere! It took all four of us adults to get that cleaned up, I even had to give them Maya's extra set of clothes I had packed in the diaper bag that day...now that I have scared you to death, make sure you always take extra clothes in the diaper bag and two or three sets on the plane just in case. Oh, and never EVER throw the diaper bag in the trunk of the taxi in Taipei becasue even if she just ate it will mean HC will need a bottle and start to scream and cause your driver to navigate Taipei traffic one handed while plugging one ear with his finger...in rush hour...so scary...don't do it.
Hugs to you all, she is such a cutie pie!

  19. She is so abso-stinkin-lutely beautiful!!! Is it too early for Reed to have the "talk" with Kevin to ask for Hannah Claire's hand in marriage! By the way, did you find out if HC was native or of Chinese descent?

  20. Seriously seriously stinkin' cute! (You'll never stop hearing that, I am sure!) She is precious, and I bet you are pinching yourself every day just to see if it is all real! Enjoy every moment as you get to know her. She'll pee on you again when you least expect it (they all do!), but you will have so many great memories and stories, too. The best is yet to be ...

Thanks for sharing this journey! All the best,

  25. oh she is more beautiful than i could have ever imagined! it must be because she's SO happy to be in her Mommy and Daddy's arms! she's not a daddy's girl already...is she? neither is mine! you're doing a wonderful job! i know...all of a sudden overnight, you're a mommy! but that's the way it always is! i can promise you it gets easier...and then she'll hit another stage and it will feel like you're starting all over until before you know it, it's all natural and easy all over again! and guess what...you're hannah claire's Mommy and she thinks you are the BESTEST Mommy EVER!!! So...no worries about the pee on the bed! what a great story though! continuing to pray for safe travels, easy transitions, and more joy than you ever dreamed!
