false labor
Today I got a phone call from the adoption agency while at work. That's never happened before. When I heard who it was, I made this GIANT LOUD SHARP INHALING BREATHING ALMOST SUCKING SOUND. I thought it was THE CALL. My heart leaped and my mind raced. This is it?!?!?! Is this it?!?!?! Oh... it's not. Uh, I'm embarrassed. Sorry to freak out on you. After the call, I laughed really hard at myself and shed a few silly tears. Oh well. At least I know how I respond when I'm surprised thinking this is THE CALL. And our lives go on. Can't decide, white or beige for the inside of that closet? Beige might show less dirt, but white might be brighter. Trying to "think positive" happy thoughts blah blah blah.

I would have done the SAME thing! What a bummer that it wasn't THE call.
ReplyDeleteWhat on earth did they want? I hope it was a "referral is not here yet, but we expect it any minute" type of call! A practice run is good, though! Now you are ready.

Stuck in the waiting stage, too
Argh! I would definitely have thought the same thing you did, so don't feel silly. That call has GOT to be coming soon!
ReplyDeleteI received a call from Carrie too. I did the exact same thing. It made me laugh when I read your post! Hopefully soon!!!

what the ferret! I HATE those calls—ours was a reminder for a class at 830pm. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteUgh. I'm with jackie on the what the ferrett comment. Hopefully it was good news at least. For the closet I think you should go somewhere in between bright white and beige, leaning more towards beige. That way you can get the best of both worlds. Brightness of the white and dirt hiding(warmth) of the beige.
ReplyDeleteThis made me sad...because I know how I would've felt. Couldn't she just left a message at the house, instead of caling you at work. Seriously doesn't she know that that phone is reserved for the CALL. Gimme her number, I'll tell her.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I so know your heart right now. Hand in there, Hannah is born, I just feel it and soon you are going to see her sweet sweet face and it's going to be amazing. I can't wait to read all about it in every minute detail!!
***Kevin told them to call me at work.*** Kevin's getting frustrated when he gets the agency phone call when I'm not home... because he doesn't ask all of the questions that I want to ask. It's no fun playing a game of telephone with a husband that's trying to remember what the agency said on the phone. This waiting mama has got to know!!! So, no need to poopoo on the agency. They've even got teary on the phone once about us having to wait much longer than expected. You know that they're rooting for you when they get teary on the phone before you do!
ReplyDeleteWith each one of my pregnancies, the Braxton Hicks contractions (or *false labor*) started about 2 weeks before the baby arrived. Sarah and Kevin, I hope this is the signal of the end for you!
ReplyDeleteNooooo!!! Doh!
ReplyDeleteUgh. False labor. Not fun.
ReplyDeleteI 2nd what Tisra said. :)
Well you know what they say about false labor. It means your getting close! Sorry you went through that. It happened to me too back in December right before I got the real call. Your must be getting your referral soon!
ReplyDeleteUgh, the next call will be it!
ReplyDeleteHey any kind of call is a sign! Take it as a good thing that the agency is touching base & I'd go with white. Hehehe!
ReplyDeleteAhhh Sarah - I would've felt the same thing. It's a sign that good things are coming!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of Hannah Claire's closet already...hehe

I would've thought the same thing as the agencies never call...
ReplyDeletesoon, soon... You've waited long enough.
I hate those calls. We got 2 and they were just reminders of classes. That stinks that they do that. I know your call is coming soon.
