Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

Untitled
We dressed the kids in what Hannah refers to as their "Chinese clothes"
Untitled
and went to our neighborhood Chinese restaurant for dinner.
I know the Taiwanese are into BBQing over the moon festival,
but this mama and just gotten home from work... and we were going OUT!
Untitled
All of our "peng you" were excited to see the kids dressed up for the holiday.
Untitled
After dinner we came home and the kids watched the Moon Festival
episode of Ni Hao, Kai-lan while we waited for it to get dark.
Untitled
Hannah decided to do a little coloring.
Untitled
Hudson decided to throw himself on the ground when he didn't get his way.
Untitled
I like it that Hannah drew a moon in the photo with her dragon!"
Untitled
Then I got out the snacks.
Untitled
In typical Hudson style, he demanded to eat NOW and
couldn't wait for the end of the moon festival snacks photo-op.
Untitled
We had strawberry and melon moon cakes, American moon pies, and Taiwanese pineapple cakes.
Untitled
Hannah, our moon festival hostess, passed around the plate of cakes.
Untitled
Here, try one!"
Untitled
Hannah likes Japanese sodas with the marble stopper.
Untitled
It's a party, so we got out the Japanese sodas.
Untitled
And the traditional Taiwanese Capri Suns.
Untitled
If you're still reading this post, that was supposed to be funny. Haha!

We put on our coats, brought the iPad, and went outside to look at the moon. I played some YouTube videos. We listened to the stories Good Night Moon and Kitten's First Full Moon and watched videos about what people do during the holiday, and I sang the kids a song about the moon.

Untitled
We had a nice time, and the lil' dude was tuckered out staying up late to see the moon.
