personal experience with Mandarin Chinese language DVDs
Hannah's done such a good job learning phonics with the Leap Frog Letter Factory DVD that we're ready to move on to some others. We've put Leap Frog Math Circus DVD on her Christmas List, and I ordered the two Follow Jade Mandarin Chinese Language DVDs based on a friend's recommendation. If you have purchased Mandarin Chinese Language DVDs for your toddlers or preschoolers, I'd love to hear your reviews. There are so many of them out there that I'd like to hear from personal experiences. We'll need some new DVD material for an upcoming looooooong car ride, and this would be a great time for the whole family to be listening to these tools. I'd also like to hear about any favorite educational DVDs that your preschoolers have benefited from.

That Leapfrog Letter Factory video teaches phonics so well it's almost scary. High five to Hannah Claire for being such a fast learner.
ReplyDeleteThe Little Pim Mandarin series is pretty good, though it's taught with a Mainland accent. We tried the Muzzy Mandarin video a few years ago and weren't as crazy about it. The video is long and doesn't teach as many words. It's great that you're trying to expose her to the sounds and vocabulary while she's still young and has an influenceable ear for languages.
We have 3 of the Little Pim DVD's. You are more than welcome to view them/barrow them for awhile... Allie still loves her Jade DVD's and begs me to buy more but of course Jade hasn't made anymore... Hey Jade, it's time!
ReplyDeleteDitto on the Letter Factory video! It is incredible how well it teaches the kids. The song from the Math Circus is a tad annoying, but my girls like it.
ReplyDeleteWe just rented a Follow Jade DVD from the library. I'm so-so on it. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. Hope you like it! :-) I'd love to hear what other folks like too!
We have the Follow Jade, let's visit Kindergarten one. It is is nice because it works on colors, counting, and greetings. My boys seem to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loved "Richard Scarry's Best Learning Songs Video Ever!"
ReplyDeletewhen she was about 2.
