beep beep

fast

Anyone else feel like this weekend went by ENTIRELY too fast???

We spent ours playing, cleaning, playing, shopping, and playing some more. Thought we'd found a deal on a toddler slide and swing set on Craig's list, but it was too babyish. We got Hannah a sandbox and sand toys instead. Hope to have it set up really soon. The swing set might wait until next summer. She's still pretty little, and Mama and Dada can't make up their minds on what to get either. One could spend $150 to $5000 OR MORE on a swing set! Un-be-lievable! The rusting metal painted yellow swing set that I had as a kid was pretty darn fun, wasn't it? I'm not sure if we could handle putting together one of those cedar kits. They look like they might need marital happiness warnings on the side of the box. "BEWARE: This item could cause yelling and generalized marital distress. Couples, assemble at your own risk."

  1. A swingset is a fun thing. BUT you don't need to spend thousands (ie rainbow) to get a decent and fun set. Walmart had a decent one a few years back that we got on clearance at the end of summer. I think we paid $200. It is a wood one with a slide & three swings. It has lasted 2 kids and is still going strong. We got it in 2005. Even a cheap metal one would do the trick. Save your $$!!

  2. Great shot of HC in the Cozy Coupe. Yeah, those cedar kits can really try one's patience. We bought the one from Costco for a great price, but it took 2 days and 3 people to assemble. As much of a pain as it was, it was well worth the work. Our boys have many good times on it. I'd definitely recommend getting a bigger set for her to grow into.

  3. You're right Sarah. They should have warnings on the box. That's why I just let him take care of putting the thing together all by himself. It really is outrageous how expensive the swing sets are. We decided to build one using a hardware kit that we got on Amazon. It had just the bolts and other metal hardware and it came with instructions for the wood to buy and how to put it together. It ended up being a lot cheaper. Good luck in your swingset decision making. I'm sure little HC will be just as thrilled with her sandbox. I think we'll get one for Andy. I know he loved playing in the sand at the beach.

Yes, I agree... The weekend went by way too quickly!!

  5. We got a three-swing swingset from Menards for about $100 and it's the hit of the neighborhood! We have an additional slide, sand table and playhouse, and all the kiddos are totally happy with it. I bet you guys will be just fine with more low key stuff too!

  6. We want a swing set for Noah and have found the same to be true! I can't even find just one that I can hang the baby swings on for now. Frustrating! We are dreading right now putting Jeremiah's crib together! I can even fathom a cedar swing system! Cute cute picture and miss Hannah!

  8. Just fork out the bucks and have them come out and put it together. If you purchase one of "those", "they'll" come out and move it if you decide to move in the future for a very minimal cost and it has a decent warranty. Mine better last me through my grandchildren! LOL!
Yes, the weekend went WAY too fast... It's hump day though and I'm just getting to your blog so hopefully this weekend will slow down a bit...
