Hawaii, the F word, and misc. grouching

I want to go to Hawaii and sit on the beach drinking pina coladas until the referral phone call. I've got some SPF 40 sunscreen and a hat, so I can sit awhile. I'm tried of snow and ice, grouchy sick people at work that use the F word (and that doesn't mean ferret) at me, and telling myself over and over "any day now" for so long.

When my sister and I were little, she once asked from the back of the car, "What's the F word?" My parents weren't quite sure how to respond. A little later my sister laughed and said, "Oh, now I remember! Ferret!"

Updated 8pm: I'm getting some e-mails asking when I'm leaving for Hawaii. I’m going to Hawaii right after I win the Powerball Lottery. I open a fortune cookie every day and buy a ticket with my “lucky numbers.” When I win, I’m buying tickets to Hawaii for any adoptive waiting mama that wants to come!

  1. The F word is also FRUSTRATING! We're standing by ready to celebrate with you. Although I don't know how you feel, I can imagine when I'm waiting by the phone day after day hoping for some news from the court... anything...just something! Maybe it will happen Friday and really put new meaning into the term Leap Year!

  2. Understand all to well about the grumpy sick people. Really we are just there to help. By the way isn't there a song "Any day now"? Maybe you could post that as your theme song. Remember just go to your happy place, like the land of pending.

  4. I'm hoping the next post will be FROM Hawaii. :) Girl, you totally need to soak up some sun and drink pina coladas. You have earned it 10 times over.

Oh, and what the ferret is with this weather lately!!! :)

  5. F is also for funny and this post made me laugh. We always had to pay 1.00 every time we said shut up in our house-perhaps you could encourage your coworkers to donate toward a worthy cause! I have heard that ferrets can bite which might encourage other F words like flabbergasted and furious! Sounds like your family had some great times! No wonder you are such a well rounded caring person! Vonne Barnett

  6. I am cracking up right now! This is the funniest thing I have read in a long time! I love it! Say Farret all you want--you deserve to!!!! And while you're at it, go to Hawaii, heck, it's only money, right? Well, at least go somewhere for dinner and pina coladas tonight!!! :)

  7. Here's hoping that F is for FINALLY, we got our referral!!! Waiting has got to be the hardest part of the adoption process. The paperwork is annoying, but the waiting can drive you crazy. We waited 2 years for our sweet little one from China. I have enjoyed your blog, all your creative digial scrapbooking and good sense of humor. You're great parents for Hannah (and of course babydog)!

  9. Oh girl you really want to keep the pina colada's stashed in the work fridge & that way when someone say's the "F-word" to you you'll have a reason to tell the po-po why fist to fist contact was necessary... You were drunk! LOL! That's what I always say. OH... and you should start making lots of cop friends~ stat. LOL!

BTW I came across an old email you sent me. For some reason it was tossed in my Bulk emails so I am so sorry I haven't responded! (Its been like a month!) Your probably thinking I'm a ho or something. LOL! LOL! I'll stop talking now & send you a PM:)
